Winter ? A Time To Rejuvenate??The season of the shortest days and the longest nights, the coldest time of year when the sun is at its lowest, nature is still and the trees are bare. It is a time for withdrawing when you may feel a little more emotional and sensitive, or have a desire to be alone, to go deeper into yourself:
Use this time of storage and rejuvenation to replenish your vitality and recharge the batteries
Slow down and conserve your energy. This is the time for storing power for the next thing you want to do
Reflect on your life and see if you are happy the direction it?s taking you or should you make some fundamental changes
Go with the flow and seek a sense of inner peace in the hectic pace of modern life
Take responsibility for how you feel day to day. Understand it is natural to feel fear, notice threats, assess risks and respond appropriately. Find ways to discover courage or feel the fear and do it anyway
Explore silence and seek wisdom from within, a wonderful empowering experience which refreshes the soul?
Food focus: Beetroot and sea vegetables are very good for cleansing the blood and supporting the kidneys. For example, Kombu in soups and stews can add great nutritional value. Do not go on a diet at this time of year, but simply clean up your act. Warm water is excellent as it flushes the kidneys and cleanses the system.
Exercise: Include lots of forward bends and back bends in your practice. They send energy to the kidneys and bladder sand support spinal health. Focus in winter on repeating exercises and movements, so that with each repetition the beneficial effects will go deeper into the body, while also building confidence.
